Tecoma capensis ‘Yellow’ SEEDS

Tecoma capensis ‘Yellow’ seeds grow into the yellow Cape honeysuckle the yellow-flowered form of an evergreen, fast-growing flowering shrub native to the subtropical biome from Tanzania south through East and southern Africa to South Africa. Now treated as Tecomaria capensis var. flava in current taxonomy, this form produces clusters of clear, bright yellow tubular flowers in striking contrast to the typical orange-red form over an extended season, attracting sunbirds and other nectar-feeding birds. The yellow-flowered form is less common in the wild than the typical orange form and is particularly valued in garden cultivation for its softer colour palette. Family Bignoniaceae.

Full sun to partial shade; adaptable to a wide range of soils; drought-tolerant once established; fast-growing. Excellent for hedges, groundcover and climbing on fences.
