Neoporteria cachytayensis

Neoporteria cachytayensis is a fascinating cactus species endemic to Chile. This globular cactus is characterized by its gray-green to brownish epidermis, often developing a slightly flattened shape with age. The prominent ribs are adorned with woolly areoles, each bearing a mix of spines. The central spines are typically robust and slightly curved, while the radial spines are shorter and more numerous. Neoporteria cachytayensis produces stunning, funnel-shaped flowers that emerge near the apex. These flowers exhibit vibrant colors, ranging from yellow to reddish-pink, and contribute to the plant’s allure among cactus enthusiasts.
