Hoya polyneura variegated

Hoya polyneura Variegated is a rare, highly collectable form of the beloved Fishtail Hoya, named for the unmistakable V-shaped veining that runs down every narrow, almond-shaped leaf. The variegated form adds bold cream and yellow sectoring to this already distinctive foliage, creating a plant that looks almost hand-painted. Stems trail gracefully from a hanging planter or climb readily on a small trellis, and mature plants reward attentive care with clusters of delicate, fringed flowers.

Origins
Hoya polyneura is native to the eastern Himalayan foothills, with a range across northeastern India, Nepal, Bhutan, northern Myanmar, and parts of southern China (Yunnan). In the wild, it grows as an epiphyte on trees in cool, consistently humid montane forests with bright, filtered light. The variegated form is a rare cultivated sport selected for its cream sectoring.

Soil and Substrate
Hoyas are epiphytic and require an especially well-aerated, sharply drained substrate to thrive. Our Hoya Mix is ideally suited to Hoya polyneura Variegated. The chunky blend of bark, perlite, coco husk, and charcoal keeps roots aerated, drains quickly to prevent rot, and mimics the bark-and-moss conditions of the plant’s native forest canopy.
