Plant Information

Plant Care

First Lady Clematis thrives with consistent care and attention. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, and apply a layer of mulch to maintain soil moisture and keep roots cool. Regular fertilization during the growing season will promote healthy growth and abundant blooming. Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins, removing dead or weak stems and cutting back to about 12 inches from the ground.

Planting Instructions

Plant your First Lady Clematis in spring or early fall for best results. Choose a location with the crown of the plant positioned 2-3 inches below soil level. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and equally deep. Add organic matter to the soil and ensure good drainage. After planting, water thoroughly and provide support structure for climbing. The plants base should be shaded while the upper portion receives adequate sunlight.
