Piper sylvaticum is a rarer and eye-catching climber from the pepper family, loved for its striking heart-shaped leaves etched with bold, dark green veins and a misting of silvery green across the surface. As it matures, the foliage can take on a soft, almost glowy sheen, especially in brighter indirect light, giving it a rich, tropical look that feels right at home on a moss pole, trellis or cascading from a shelf. It brings a refined, jungle-inspired vibe to any plant collection without looking like anything else you already own.

Perfect for collectors who love textured foliage and a bit of a challenge, Piper sylvaticum rewards consistent care, warmth and humidity with lush, layered growth. Once it settles in, this climbing vine becomes a true feature plant, adding depth and movement to your indoor jungle.

Position	Bright, indirect light is ideal; can tolerate moderate light, but leaves may lose some intensity of colour. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
Temperature	Prefers warm conditions between 2028C; keep above 15C and protect from cold draughts.
Water	Keep the potting mix evenly moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top 23 cm of soil to dry slightly between waterings and reduce watering in cooler months.
Fertiliser	Feed every 46 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser diluted to half strength. No fertiliser is needed over winter when growth slows.
Repotting	Only when well established in pot or mid-spring.
