Philodendron melanoneuron

Philodendron melanoneuron is a tropical climbing plant known for its deeply textured, ovate leaves that become more heart-shaped as they mature. In its natural habitat, this species can produce leaves up to 50cm in length, exhibiting a robust climbing habit. A notable characteristic of this plant is its bright pink roots, which add to its unique appeal.

Native to: Ecuador, where it thrives in warm, humid environments under the forest canopy.

Water: Maintain consistently moist soil, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between waterings. Ensure the potting mix is well-draining to prevent waterlogging, which can lead to root rot. Adjust watering frequency based on environmental conditions, increasing during warmer months and reducing during cooler periods.

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can cause leaf burn, while too little light may result in slower growth. An ideal location is near a window with filtered sunlight.

Humidity: Thrives in high humidity environments, ideally above 60%. To maintain adequate humidity, consider using a humidifier, placing the plant on a pebble tray with water, or grouping it with other plants to create a microclimate.

Temperature: Favours warm temperatures between 18C and 26C. Protect from drafts and sudden temperature fluctuations, and avoid exposure to temperatures below 15C to prevent stress.
