Plant Care

The Butternut Squash requires regular watering to keep the soil evenly moist, but not waterlogged. It is important to water at the base of the plant to avoid wetting the leaves, which can lead to disease. Fertilize the plant every 2-3 weeks with a balanced fertilizer to promote healthy growth. Regularly check for pests, such as aphids or squash bugs, and treat accordingly. Harvest the squash when the skin is hard and the stem is dry.

Planting Instructions

Plant Butternut Squash seeds or seedlings in a sunny location with well-drained soil. Sow the seeds 1 inch deep and space them 2-3 feet apart. If using seedlings, transplant them when they have 2-3 true leaves. Provide support for the vines to climb, such as a trellis or fence. Mulch around the plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Harvest the squash when fully mature, typically 80-100 days after planting.
